An Extended Service Contract for You Car
You should immediately evaluate whether you are still paying for extended service contracts or warranties purchased from a dealership. Many drivers forget that these contracts often overlap with the manufacturer's original warranty for the first few years, making them completely useless until that initial period expires. Furthermore, these pricey plans frequently include restrictive clauses that exclude common repair items, like wear-and-tear components or even diagnostics, making them a costly form of false security. Financial experts advise that instead of paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars up front for a contract you might never use, you are better off allocating that same money to a high-yield savings account designated solely for emergency car repairs.
Unused Subscription Services
When it comes to unnecessary expenses, unused subscription services are definitely one of the leading (if not, the leading) culprit. To be fair, it can be hard to keep track of what you are subscribed to nowadays, as there are simply so many options available. Be sure to go through your monthly bills and identify any subscription services that you no longer need.
Gym Membership
If you don't actually go to the gym, there is no point in keeping your membership. More so, you don't need to spend a small fortune at a gym every month to get in your exercise. Instead, go for walks or simply do body weight exercises. Not only will you get the same benefits, but it's also free! You could even spend a few dollars (as opposed to the hundreds it costs for a gym membership) and invest in resistance bands or at-home weight equipment.
Unused Insurance Policies
Insurance companies are great at finding loop holes to make as much money as possible out of customers - even if it isn't warranted. For example, you shouldn't be paying full coverage on a vehicle older than 15 years, as it probably isn't valuable enough to warrant paying such a high amount. Be sure to go through your monthly insurance bills and cancel anything that isn't completely necessary.
Storage Units
If you are paying for a storage unit that you haven't needed to access in over a year, you are wasting your money. Simply put, there is no need to spend hundreds of dollars a month on things that you don't need or use. This doesn't only include physical storage units, but digital cloud storage as well.
Cable TV
Nowdays, cable TV subsciptions cost an absolute fortune compared to what they did just a few years ago. It simply doesn't make sense to pay for cable TV when we don't even watch half of the shows available to us. Instead, streaming services are the way to go. Not only are they cheaper, but they also have more variety and are easier to cancel when you've seen all that you want to see. Additionally, you can swap between the different services as your favorite shows are made available.
Food Delivery Subsciptions
There are plenty of food delivery services at our disposal, including Uber One and DoorDash Pass. While having a subscription with these companies is beneficial if you order food on a daily basis, most of us don't do that, which means that we actually end up losing money. If possible, it's always cheaper to buy and collect the food yourself.
