Have you ever wondered just how smart your home country really is? Well, you're about to get some answers. Using data from across the globe, the World Population Review has revealed the average IQ for over 100 different nations. And we're going to take a closer look at the highest scores right here!
China
Rocking an average IQ of 107, China has the highest score of any other country on this list. Impressive, right? That figure has jumped up by three points in the last few years — the average score was 104 back in 2019. It might not be the biggest increase, but it's still made a difference!
South Korea
South Korea is next up on this list. The Land of the Morning Calm has an average IQ of 106. Much like China, that's an increase from the 2019 figure. Back then, South Korea bagged a score of 102. We wouldn't blame anyone for bragging about those numbers!
Japan
Mirroring their East Asian neighbors, Japan also has an average IQ of 106 at the moment. That figure hasn't budged since 2019 — it was the same back then as well! But Japan topped the list that year. So this is something of a drop for the Land of the Rising Sun.
Iran
Another nation sitting on an average IQ score of 106, Iran has enjoyed quite the rise over the last few years. You see, the Middle Eastern country only scored an average of 80 back in 2019. We're serious! That's an incredible jump — one of the biggest on this list.
Singapore
With an average IQ of 105, Singapore has one of the highest scores on this list. Yet folks from the Lion City might be disappointed by that number. Why? Well, back in 2019, Singapore's average IQ was recorded at 106. Yep, it's dropped in the last few years!
Russia
Coming in just below Singapore, Russia joins the list now with an average IQ of 103. A very good effort, wouldn't you agree? But it's even more impressive when you look at the previous score from 2019. Back then, Russia's average IQ was recorded at 96.3.
Mongolia
Much like their bordering Russian neighbors, Mongolia also has an average IQ of 103. And mirroring Russia again, that number has jumped since 2019. Yes, the Land of the Eternal Blue Sky rocked an average score of 91 at that point. Who wouldn't be happy with an increase like that?!
Armenia
Armenia joins the list now, boasting an average IQ of 103. A popular number! Similar to Russia and Mongolia, that's an improvement on the previous score from 2019. But how big was the jump? Well, the Land of Noah had an average figure of 88.8 back then. Talk about a significant leap.
Australia
Australia is next up on the list with an average IQ of 103. And following the pattern set by the last three entries, that's an increase from the 2019 figure, too. But the jump wasn't quite so big here, folks. You see, Australia's previous score came to 99.2.
Spain
The first of several nations to record an average IQ of 102, Spain joins the fray now. That's a great number by itself — but it's even more impressive when you look at the previous figure. Spain's average IQ came to 93.9 back in 2019. A solid increase? You bet!
New Zealand
Coming in just below their Australian neighbors on the list, New Zealand has an average IQ of 102. So close, yet so far! Having said that, Kiwis are sure to be happy with the increase from the previous figure. In 2019, their average score was recorded at 98.6.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka joins the list now, sitting on an average IQ of 102. And boy, is that a massive jump from 2019. Back then, the Pearl of the Indian Ocean could only manage a score of 86.6. Barring Iran, few other nations can match that increase here, folks.
Slovenia
It's time to head back to Europe now for the next entry on this list. Slovenia joins the party with an average IQ of 102. Is that a better number than the country's previous effort? Absolutely! The Sunny Side of the Alps scored an average of 98.6 in 2019.
Canada
Canada is the latest nation to join the 102 IQ club, folks. As you can see, the Great White North's in good company here! But how does that compare to the 2019 number? Is it better or worse? Well, it's a small improvement. Back then, Canada scored an average of 99.5.
Thailand
Thailand rounds off the group of nations with an average IQ of 102. And in keeping with those countries, that's an increase from the previous number as well. Yep, the 2019 score sat at 88.9. The Land of Smiles is sure to be beaming with that news!
Belarus
Boasting an average IQ of 101, Belarus has outshone a lot of larger nations here. But even so, folks from the White Rus' might be a touch disappointed with the number. Why's that? Well, Belarus's average score came to 102 back in 2019. While it's only a slight dip, it's still noticeable.
France
France joins the list now, recording an average IQ of 101. Not bad at all, right? How does that compare to the past figure, though? Well, it's good news for the French! In 2019, L'Hexagone could only manage an average score of 96.7. Talk about a welcome jump.
Serbia
Mirroring Belarus and France, Serbia also has an average IQ of 101. But is that a better effort than previously? Indeed! Serbia's average score was recorded at 89.6 back in 2019. So we wouldn't blame any Serbians for celebrating that jump. It's significant, to say the least.
Italy
As one of the most historically-rich nations on the planet, does Italy have an impressive IQ to match? We'd say so! Bel Paese has recorded an average figure of 101. That's up from 2019 as well. At that point in time, Italy's average score sat at 94.2.
Switzerland
Want to know who else scored an average IQ of 101? Well, it's time to welcome Switzerland to the party! The Swiss have to be very happy with that number, as it's a slight increase from the 2019 figure. At that stage, their IQ was measured at 99.2.
Georgia
Georgia is the final country from this batch of nations to record an average IQ of 101. An excellent result, right? And it's made even sweeter when you compare it to the past number. Yep, Georgia's previous average score in 2019 came to 84.5. How's that for an impressive jump?
Malaysia
Coming in hot with an average IQ of 100, Malaysia joins the list now. But is that a good number when lined up to the previous results? Certainly! Back in 2019, the Southeast Asian country's average score only reached 87.6. That's a very solid jump, folks.
Finland
Following on from Malaysia, let's focus on Finland now. The European nation has an average IQ of 100. Will the Finnish people be satisfied with that number, though? Maybe not! After all, Finland's score was a little higher back in 2019. At that stage, the average figure sat at 101.
Vietnam
Mirroring Malaysia and Finland, Vietnam also has an average IQ of 100. But is that a positive figure compared to the number from a few years ago? You bet. In 2019, the Land of the Blue Dragon could only manage a score of 89.5. That's some improvement, right?
Belgium
Joining the clutch of countries with an average IQ of 100, Belgium is the latest entry on the list. And folks from the European nation are sure to be happy with this result. Previously in 2019, Belgium's average score came to 97.5. It's a small, yet welcome, increase.
Greece
Another country famous for its rich history, does Greece have an IQ that'd make the likes of Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates proud? We'd say so! The average figure comes to 100 today. That's a nice jump from the 2019 number of 90.8.
Luxembourg
Although it's one of the smallest countries in Europe, Luxembourg's average IQ is a good match for any of the big-hitters. The score sits at 100. That's a very slight improvement on the 2019 figure. Back then, the Gibraltar of the North had an average number of 99.9.
Iceland
Rounding off the 100 IQ group, Iceland joins the fray next. An awesome number, wouldn't you agree? But is it better or worse than the previous figure? Fortunately for the Icelandics, it's the former! In 2019, the Land of Fire and Ice had an average IQ score of 98.3.
Slovakia
It's time to shift our focus to Slovakia now. Rocking an average IQ of 99.8, the European nation towers over many of its neighbors on that front. And the number's jumped up from 2019 as well. Back then, the average score in Slovakia came to 96.3.
United States
The United States isn't too far behind Slovakia here, with an average IQ of 99.7. Is that positive compared to past numbers, though? It looks that way! America's average score was 97.4 in 2019, so that's a very welcome increase. Could further jumps be on the cards going forward?
Czech Republic
The Czech Republic joins the list now, rocking an average IQ of 99.7. And much like with America, that's a nice jump from the past figure. Yep, the number came to 94.9 back in 2019. The Czechs have to be delighted with that news!
Netherlands
Moving on to the Netherlands, the European nation has an average IQ of 99.7 now. But that's a bit lower than the number from 2019. At that point, the average figure came to 101. We wouldn't blame the Dutch for feeling some level of frustration here, folks!
United Kingdom
Another country sitting on an average IQ of 99.7, the United Kingdom joins the list next. Will the people of the U.K. be happy with that score? There's a good chance. After all, the national average in 2019 sat at 99.1. It isn't much of a jump, but it's something!
Austria
To round things off, let's focus on Austria now. The European country also has an average IQ of 99.7. But how does that compare to previous efforts? Well, in 2019 Austria scored an average of 98.4. Talk about fine margins!
