If there is one thing humans like to do, it's to create order and rules. We have rules for even the most mundane of situations. For example, everyone has come across a sign that says "don't walk on the grass" or "no dogs allowed". And with so many rules scattered about our daily lives, it just makes you sometimes want to break some of them. That's what these people did, and they did it in the most hilarious ways possible.
Thinking Outside The Box
This is a fitting post to start this list. Like most of the people on here, this kid found a pretty inventive way to break the rules. The teacher had clearly marked on this assignment that they didn't want their students writing outside the boxes. But, this student shot back in a way that should make just about any teacher proud of their student. Learning, after all, should be about thinking uniquely about the world around us.
This student decided to do just that and draw their own little box right below the instructions. In the box, the student pointed out that they would not be confined to the rules when thinking freely.
Jackie Is A Rebel
We don't know who Jackie is, but we like the way they think. Jackie probably didn't study for this exam and ended up using their whiteout to erase an entire question. This is a hilarious example of what one can do when they put their mind to a problem, even if they can't actually solve that problem. If we were Jackie's teacher, we'd probably give them a pass on this one for the sheer amount of creativity.
And for anyone out there who might say that you can't just treat real-life problems like they don't exist, we wholeheartedly disagree. Sometimes you just have to let go of problems for peace of mind.
Label Maker Goes Rogue
Label makers are actually some seriously fun little devices. They can be surprisingly addicting as well and apparently, that's what happened to whoever this little sign was trying to dissuade from printing too many labels. But, in all honesty, passive-aggressive notes in the office rarely work and usually just make people want to break the rules even more. And the best way to break a rule is by doing it in a snarky way.
Opinions may differ, but we think people like this are priceless in the office and make working hours more bearable for everyone else, as long as their antics are harmless of course.
Nate Does Nate
Rebels can come from all walks of life and celebrities who get a little rebellious from time to time are, for one reason or another, usually the most popular. However, we're sure this wasn't crossing actor Nate Fillion's mind when he was caught here breaking the rules. The sign here clearly states that photos and autographs are not allowed, so what better way to break the rule than sign the sign and then take a photo?
He even posted the picture with a funny caption that read, "I do what I want". We're with you Nick, you keep on keeping on there buddy. Don't let a sign dictate how to live your life.
God Save The Queen
As far as rule-breaking goes, this one is pretty inventive. Someone took an American-themed skittles pack, maybe made for Independence Day, and turned them into the Union Jack. They actually did a really good job as well. We're wondering if they had to buy another pack to pull off this masterpiece or if just one sufficed. Either way, it's a pretty clever and artsy way to break the rules.
Also, this is really making us crave some skittles now for some reason, maybe it's all the irony laid out in the shape of a colorful and tasty-looking flag.
The Great Debate Rages On
The debate about whether pineapple should go on pizza or not is sure to have proponents on both sides of the argument. However, we're pretty sure that no matter what camp you fall into, this photo is just wrong in every conceivable way. Someone decided to add some tomato sauce, cheese, and pepperoni to their pineapple and call it a pizza. Which, we all know is not how the world works.
We're not even sure if this is one of the funnier photos on this list or just a picture of pure chaos. Some people just like to watch the world burn we guess.
Unfortunate Nametag
This photo is pretty self-explanatory. Apparently, a student, or maybe another colleague, thought it'd be funny to finish out this person's last name by adding an "og" and spelling hedgehog. The doctor, at least, seemed to have a good sense of humor about the whole thing and only threatened the perpetrator with death upon getting caught. However, there is another detail in this photo you might be able to see if you look closely.
The student or colleague wasn't done with the doctor and left him a clever little response on his note. Hopefully, this rebel never gets caught and ends up getting away scot-free.
Rebel With A Cause
For one reason or another, books and language in general, always seem to attract the rebellious. We're sure this author had this in mind when they decided on the title for their book. And this guy took the bait, posing in a photo of himself reading a book that clearly was not meant for him to read. It looks like he is enjoying himself, too. He's already made it nearly halfway through the book.
If you're wondering what the book is about, so were we. Apparently, the book is on women's health and collects advice from different experts in different fields. So, not anything too taboo.
Animals Just Don't Care
As you will come to see on this list, animals couldn't care less about some of the rules we try to enforce in the real world. This bird is our first example of this and while we're not sure what the sign is actually trying to say, apparently this little guy wasn't having it. It's almost as if he knew what the sign was trying to say and struck a pose on top of it on purpose.
Either way, this photograph turned out nearly perfect. We just hope whoever put this sign up saw the error in their ways and eventually took it down. You shouldn't discriminate.
Perhaps They're On To Something
Here we are a billboard advocating for some kind of preventive medical check-up. We also have a very funny and ironic addition someone decided to scrawl all over the sign. Whoever turned out and took issue with the billboard's claim obviously has a sense of humor. However, it'd be nice if regular people passing by could actually see what the sign is advocating for. Sadly, whoever wrote the billboard ad didn't think that one through.
But, they did leave it open to interpretation, which some clever mind out there took advantage of. Now, a passerby can get a decent laugh out of the sign, which has to be worth something medically speaking.
That Was Direct
As mentioned before, there isn't much worse than finding a really passive-aggressive note lying around the office. In this case, we have an entire whiteboard. Lucky enough though, someone had the ingenious idea to respond in kind with a simple, yet direct message. Whoever took the black marker is obviously still out there somewhere, because they wrote the word "no" in black sharpie. The only thing that could have made this better is if it was written in permanent marker.
They even scribbled the word in gigantic letters. Another hero the office doesn't deserve but truly needs. Jokes aside though, it really is kind of annoying when people swipe markers.
Well, This Is Awkward
This little guy got to meet two stars from Marvel's superhero franchise. However, he seems to be wearing a shirt from a slightly different franchise. Good thing that doesn't seem to be getting in the way of anybody having a good time in this photo. It does, however, provide some internet gold. It also provides some ammunition for all those out on the internet who argue about which superhero universe is better.
But, we're sure this wasn't intentional. Unless, of course, this kid's parents were the ones that dressed him in preparation for meeting Thor and Loki. We hope not because everything about this photo is heartwarming.
This Is the Work of a Genius
This guy is genius-level smart. While we all get those boxes that are fragile and advise against opening with a blade from time to time, this guy decided rules weren't going to hold him back and took out his Blade DVD to open his package. We're not sure where he managed to find a DVD, much less one of Blade, but you have to admire his ingenuity in a situation like this.
To top it all off, the guy's clover tattoo is pretty cool as well. Only genius levels of irony usually allow someone to get a tattoo like that, and it looks like it's still fresh.
Down With The Humanarchy
To most dogs, rules simply don't exist. And in some cases, we'd say we completely agree with this take on life. For example, take this sign banning dogs from roaming around on the beach. Why would you not want a dog to be able to take a walk around freely on the beach? Apparently, this guy was thinking the same thing and took the sign to use as a playtoy.
This is probably one of the funniest depictions of man's best friend having no qualms about breaking the rules that we have ever seen. And it's super fitting in this case.
Someone Was Having A Bad Day
Someone was really not having a good day when they restocked these potatoes and onions. Or, perhaps, they were just doing this as a joke. Either way, it caught someone's attention enough to take a photo. The irony is strong here and we think this is probably one of the greatest examples of someone that just can't be bothered on this list. We just hope they're still employed at whatever supermarket this is.
Sometimes the biggest acts of rebellion manifest in what seem like small acts of defiance. This is certainly one of those cases of a small act of defiance that may, or may not, have been meant to make a statement.
A Legendary Act Of Resistance
The Beatles were no strangers to acts of rebellion and were even photographed clearly breaking the rules in this photo. It's a small act, but as we said before, it's the small acts that sometimes send the biggest messages. And what could be more iconic, and better for one's image, than being photographed breaking one of the most mundane rules in existence? Why else have grass if not to sit down on and enjoy?
We wonder what the back story and location of this particular shot were though because we're sure The Beatles had their reputation in mind when sitting down to take this iconic photo.
Another Rebel Canine
Another dog on the list who saw a discriminatory sign and said they weren't having it, this little guy just decided to sit down to block out the word "no" completely. Once again, we're not sure where this photo was actually taken, but wherever it is, it's certainly a better place for having this little guy around. Not only is he a clever dog, but he looks like he is having the time of his life, too.
On the other hand, this certainly could have been planned by the owner. But, we wouldn't blame them, why discriminate against pet owners? especially if their dog is well-behaved and on a leash.
The Kid We All Wished We Could Be
We're sure whoever this kid is, they made an impression when they handed this to the class teacher. Apparently, the kid was asked to fill out a bio or something and wrote an ironic four-word statement about themselves. It's also pretty iconic and our hats off to him. This has to be one of the funniest acts of defiance anywhere on this list, and we're starting to see a theme here.
Most of the more clever acts on this list all come from children. Maybe kids are just naturally rebellious before life takes hold and forces them to conform?
The Most Stubborn Act Of Defiance
The caption inside of this picture pretty much sums up everything about it. Some people don't care what lengths they have to go to in order to make a point. This guy seems like he is ready to sacrifice just about anything and decides to make his point by forging this really chaotic peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We don't even want to think about what might make someone resort to this kind of action.
However, after looking at this photo, it does kind of remind us of those videos where people cut and make food in the most unorthodox ways imaginable. Maybe that's where this guy was coming from.
Beneficial Acts Of Rebellion
Someone saw this sign and took it a little too seriously. Apparently, whoever put this up was referring to something that contained liquid and might spill, but this guy was thinking outside the box and left a tip in another sense of the word. This is actually on another level of ironic thinking, and we're sure everyone knows someone else out there that thinks like this. These mild rule breakers make life worth living.
They also left someone with a dollar, which is not a bad thing to do when breaking the rules. The whole photo kind of has Robinhood-like vibes to it if we're being honest.
Savvy Business Tactics?
It's no secret that businesses often adopt rebellious aspects to their marketing in order to draw in new customers, but the verdict is still out on this one. Apparently, this owner or employee told people not to post their sign online, but what makes someone want to do something more than telling them not to do it? Either way, the business ended up getting some free publicity out of their funny sign.
But, we're not going to jump to any conclusions, it's entirely possible that this owner simply saw a bunch of neighborhood signs being posted online and didn't want to be a part of it.
Unfortunate Wording
While we're pretty sure there was no malign intent around this sign, it does make for a pretty hilarious photo opportunity. This girl must've been thinking the same thing when she saw it. The sign itself barely makes grammatical sense, but we suppose that makes it all the funnier. The look on the girl's face is also pretty priceless as she just sips away at her iced coffee without any remorse.
This is a reminder that heroes and rebels come in all forms. It's also a reminder to be extra careful about any wording you use for a sign, especially one that is trying to get people to obey a rule.
Someone Clearly Has A Preference
This photo is pretty hilarious and it takes the Microsoft-Apple rivalry to a whole new level. We think that perhaps this office was at one point in time using windows-based computers, but they eventually upgraded; we mean changed, operating systems. Now, the entire room has fresh Macs just sitting around, but nobody seems to have changed the sign on the outside. Personally, it might be best if they just leave it there for anyone with a sense of humor that happens to be strolling by.
And honestly, knowing the price of Apple products, outfitting this entire room was probably ridiculously expensive. Maybe whoever did it simply didn't have the money left over to throw an Apple sticker on the wall.
This Person Just Gets It
One of the most annoying things about working in an office can often be the rules around food and drinks. This employee was thinking the same thing and found a clever way to skirt said rules without technically breaking them outright. Whoever put this sign up probably didn't want anyone spilling any drinks, but that doesn't mean you should limit the containers people are allowed to drink out of. Accidents happen after all.
We would've liked to see the look on the face of whoever put this sign up when they saw their colleague's clever little hack. We're sure they let them get away with it, if only for this one time.
Who's More Of A Rebel Here?
This photo seriously had us questioning our admiration for the rebellious. It's kind of hard to tell who is more of a free spirit from this photo, the person flipping over the box, or the box itself. Boxes like these usually house some kind of fragile musical instrument, which is probably why the musician wrote what they did on the underside of it. Whoever it was, they obviously had a pretty good sense of humor.
And for some reason, we can hear the words on the box talking to us when we read this. It's also talking in an ironic way, which makes us question the true rebel of this story even more.
Living Life To The Fullest
This is probably the most heartwarming story on this list. We've all either been the ones to try and hold on to a stapler or ended up taking one by accident. Well, someone seems to have labeled this stapler in order to make sure it never left their desk, but their colleague had other plans. They ended up taking this little guy to live his best life, visiting baseball games and even Disneyworld.
Yes, we know it's an inanimate object, but we're suckers for rebellious acts that end up with happy endings. We're sure these two ended up spending their best days together.
Be Your Own Person
We're sure everyone out there has seen one of those t-shirts that try to be ironic by telling people what they should and should not do. The only irony behind those kinds of shirts is that someone made money off of selling them. Anyway, this guy apparently felt the same way and when he saw someone wearing a t-shirt that said to not take any selfies, he immediately snapped a photo with the stranger in the background.
Perhaps the best part about this photo is the stranger's face in the background. He seems to have turned and noticed what was happening at the last possible second, which made for a hilarious selfie.
This Kid Is Going Places
It's not every day that you see a photo of a genius just casually practicing their art in a yearbook. Well, today is that day. We present to you, Daniel. We won't write what Daniel was saying, but we're sure that you can figure it out. We're also sure that this rebel went on to fundamentally change entire systems of governance and banking for the betterment of the entire world.
While we couldn't find out what really happened to Daniel, we did find some random comment on the internet saying that the school no longer allowed for senior quotes after they figured out the acronym.
Someone Got Really Creative Here
Talk about sticking it to the man, whoever came up with this solution pictured in the photo, was certainly creative. We don't know why you would have a sign advising people against posting bills, but we're sure they weren't talking about actual people named Bill. We also hope that they left this masterpiece of modern up and didn't take off any of the stickers. Where does someone even get that many stickers of people named Bill in the first place?
We've also just realized, without getting into anything too controversial, that people named Bill usually come with some baggage. Except of course for Bill Murray, he's a great actor.
When Mom Is Savage
Sometimes the parents are more of a rebel than their children. When this happens the children really just have to go with it. In these texts, we can see that mom is not going to be limited by what she can and cannot say. She actually roasts her own husband pretty hard at the end of this conversation. But, this just goes to show that you can be rebellious and still be an awesome parent.
The daughter might not like it when her parents say the word "savage", but it certainly makes for a funny photo. And we're with the mom on this one, she's earned the right to say just about any word she wants.
No Regrets
There must be something about rebelling in any way you can when you're in school. We've already taken a look at a couple of pretty hilarious and clever students that found ways to show their individuality and make a statement in the process, but this guy is probably the most savage of the bunch. We mean, just look at that face. He has no remorse and probably knows exactly what he's doing.
We can't blame him, this guy is pretty subtle. In a photo filled with uniforms, he manages to express the way he thinks about it all and rebel during what is a usually mundane class photo.
What's Wrong With Vans?
Another example of why it's important to word your signs right, this guy took advantage of what he must have considered an insult to his footwear. He posted a photo of himself wearing vans right next to the sign, which states that vans are not allowed. Of course, it's referring to vehicular vans, but that's what happens when you have a silly sign, you get silly pictures.
We're actually wondering why the sign is singling out vans. Usually, trucks or semis are the ones that need to be careful about their heights going into tunnels and such.
Why Though?
Vanity tags are always going to invite a response, whether that response is a simple honk of the horn or somebody completely going out of their way to make your day is another question. This guy just couldn't resist when he came across this car tag that said the driver absolutely hates peas. The guy took it upon himself to try and change this person's mind on the matter and left him a whole bag on his bumper.
We would also be curious to know why this individual despises peas enough to get a tag letting the world know. As interesting as this storyline is, we want to hear the backstory to this riveting tale.
Breaking All The Rules
Dogs are great and this photo kind of proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt. This not-so-little canine is apparently not allowed to sit in one of his favorite places, the couch. While we understand that dogs can get hair on a couch, which is then pretty hard to clean up, how could someone say no to that face? He looks so relaxed sitting in his favorite spot.
He even kind of looks like he knows what he's doing and suspects he's not supposed to be there. We hope the owner changed their mind eventually and let this guy sit on the couch in the end.
Blame Corporate
While we personally don't take offense when a random barista misspells our names, we know that some people do. This person does not seem to be one of those people though and seems to have posted this photo just for laughs. Apparently, someone misspelled his name so bad it ended up coming out as "cark". Now, we're not sure if that is an actual name or not but we think that odds are this was done intentionally.
There is just no way you misspell the name "marc" or "mark" so bad that you end up with "cark". Either way, it makes for a pretty hilarious photo and probably a hilarious day for whoever "cark" is.
Ouch
While Apple used to own the music streaming game once upon a time, it has quickly allowed itself to be outpaced by some rivals. And in this case, it has made for a pretty hilarious response on Twitter. Apple Music's account tweeted out asking what people were listening to and one savvy user replied that they were listening to Spotify. That's got to hurt for a streaming service that was at one point in time, at the top of its game.
It's also just a pretty funny tweet. We're actually like to know if there were any responses to this down below because sometimes fans of Apple can get a little out of hand defending their favorite product.
You Wouldn't
Sometimes the biggest rebellious acts we take in life, we do alone when nobody else is around and just to prove a point to ourselves. That seems to be what this person was doing when they broke out the cheese knife and threatened to use it to cut an onion. While we don't know if they followed through on the act or not, we're sure they made their point about being confined to a single knife.
Also, in all honesty, that knife looks like it would be perfect to use to cut an onion. The only thing that would give us any doubts might be the word "cheese" that's cut out in giant letters.
That's Kind Of Creepy
This photo has 1984 vibes all over it. We don't know why there is a camera in the dance room, or if the sticker quote was placed there before or after the camera was put up, but someone has a weird sense of humor. Admittedly, it makes for a funny combination, but it's also kind of dark. Maybe that's the kind of humor they were going for though.
The camera angle and the font are like the icing on top. It almost looks as if the camera is staring right at the person taking the photo, while the font looks really cheerful for the situation.
Some Are Just Born To Break The Rules
Some people, like the person in this photo, were just obviously born to break any type of rule they come across. It doesn't matter if the rule makes sense or not, these are the types of people that are going to break them. Think of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich from earlier. This photo and that one were probably taken by the same types of people if not the same person entirely.
This guy decided that instead of using the hole meant for the straw, he would make his own hole. We're not sure why but more power to him for doing things his own way.
When Your Into Halloween And Breaking Rules
Another instance of school getting in the way of students expressing their individuality, this student found a clever way around his university's no pumpkin policy. Instead of carving out a pumpkin for Halloween, they decided to use pineapple instead. The end result is an actually pretty cool-looking if a little goofy, scary pineapple. We're sure if the dean saw this then they would be proud of the student's inventiveness.
However, they might also change the rules to ban just about any type of product being used to make a jack-o-lantern. Either way, we hope this kid got to keep their pineapple.
